ABOUT E&WHCC - the history!
To celebrate 175 years of cricket in the village, in 2012 Ivan Mulford and Duncan Francis asked Trevor Bacon to pull together an account of our cricketing history.

With 175 years to cover it probably doesn't seem strange that the ups and downs of cricket in East & West Hendred would include references to soprano singer Eleanor Kessler, Charles Allsopp, the Women's Institute, Henry Colt (a famous golf course architect), the Suffragettes and of course some very familiar family names including Mulford and Francis!

What is clear is that we are fortunate to have benefitted from the financial generosity of village families in the past, just as we are now fortunate to benefit from the generosity of time, commitment and enthusiasm from many of our Officers, Captains, Coaches and Volunteers.

For anyone interested in the history of the village, and how cricket has changed and shaped the village over time, this is a fabulous read by Trevor Bacon. So grab a beer and enjoy!
