Where is East & West Hendred Cricket Club?

Details of how to find the club and the grounds are available here.  The addresses are:

or

Assume that all training and matches will take place at East Hendred's main ground, unless Spond says otherwise!

Is there a Clubhouse?

E&WHCC's clubhouse has home and away changing rooms.

We have a well stocked bar which is open during all matches and training sessions and we accept contactless payment so you can enjoy a refreshing beer, cider, glass of wine or soft drink whilst supporting your team.

Crisp, nuts & chocolate bars are also available from the bar and we also sell tea/coffee and sometimes cake from the kitchen.

Is there parking at the Club

There is limited parking at the East Hendred's Clubhouse, however on match days only, if the carpark is full, please drive slowly behind the clubhouse (between the road and clubhouse) and then turn right towards the cricket nets. Please park either along the fence line by the nets, or by the tennis courts.

Please do not obstruct the driveways of the residents in Mill Lane.

There is plenty of parking at the Ardington's Clubhouse.

The club's ethos is to welcome everyone, whatever their
experience or circumstances.  Should fees present a financial hurdle, please discuss this in confidence with any of the following: Team captain, coach (for juniors) or Elizabeth Leishman (Membership Officer) so we can make appropriate adjustments.

Who provides match teas?

Junior teams have biscuits or cupcakes or flapjacks & juice at change of innings and each coach will organise the rota so please be prepared to volunteer!

Weather permitting there will be a BBQ after the Wednesday Downs League games.

During the pandemic match teas were not allowed to be provided.  Many players found it easier to continue with this
arrangement as fees are reduced and timings for lunch can be more flexible so please bring your own lunch to both home and away matches.

Who do I contact about the joining the club?

We are always keen to have new members join the club whether they be new to cricket or veterans!
In 2021 - in spite of Covid 19 restrictions - we had around 50 children participate in the All Stars Programme (5-8) and Kwik Cricket which was aimed at aged 8-10 who would have been in the ECB Dynamos group. In addition our U11s, U13s and U15s all had great training sessions each week and enjoyed a number of matches.

Over the last couple of years we have welcomed lots of excellent female players in our junior teams and ran some training sessions during 2021 for ladies. In 2021 we were delighted to be able to run a Ladies' team for the first time but we are always on the lookout for more players so if you are interested in joining please contact Dawn Barksfield.

We are sometimes stretched for players in our senior teams, especially during the holiday period if both teams are playing on the same day so if you are interested in joining our Captains would be delighted to hear from you.

Please refer to the contact list for details of who to get in touch with.

Do juniors players need their own equipment?

We understand that cricket equipment can be quite expensive so up until the U11s we don't expect any child to have their own helmet, pads, gloves or bat, however we know that many of them do!  The club has spare kit for U11s and U13s to use, however we ask that all boys have their own box as sharing that would not be pleasant!

All Stars & Dynamos do not need to have any equipment.  They receive a bundle when they subscribe via the ECB website (see All Stars and Dynamos) and all other equipment is provided by the club.

What kit do players wear?

All Stars & Dynamos are provided with some kit on signing up with the ECB so we prefer them to wear this when possible as it helps with identification!

In line with the ECB move to pink ball cricket, the juniors will have a coloured kit top which will be loaned to them for the duration of the season.  The shirts are sponsored by Bellinger Isuzu and will be provided to all juniors.  To complete the kit we ask all juniors to wear black bottoms such as tracksuits, leggings, academy pants or shorts.

Are the Coaches DBS checked?

All lead coaches are DBS checked and further information on the Club's Welfare Policy can be found here.
