2nd XI Captain
A resident of rival village Ardington, Peter has been an ardent supporter of E&WH CC. He held the position of Chair for many years and in 2020 was elected to President. Knees and hips allowing, Peter still likes to position himself at slip for the 2nd XIs and even bowls the odd over. Peter supports all the teams, junior and senior, and has an uncanny knack for arriving just in time for match tea!
Liam joined E&WHCC in 2017 and quickly took on a very proactive role, initially as Captain of the 2nd XI, and in 2020 was also elected to the role of Chair. Liam was instrumental in the success of the All Stars programme in 2019 such that the club will be running both All Stars (5-8 years) and Dynamos (8-11 years) programmes this year. Recognising the need to nurture and develop the youth teams, Liam has introduced some of the U13 &U15 players to senior cricket. Not only do the juniors get some very valuable experience, the more senior players take the opportunity to rest their legs!
Secretary, U11s Coach
Everyone knows Ivan! Not only is he East Hendred born and bred, cricket runs through his veins like blood. Ivan has played cricket for E&WHCC for more years than he would like to acknowledge and regularly flits between the 1st & 2nd XI. If he's not playing, Ivan is coaching the U11s along with Pete Beckley and if he isn't doing any of those, along with his partner in crime Pete, he is maintaining E&WH's fabulous cricket ground - which was voted best OCA ground by visiting teams.
Welfare Officer & Umpire
Like chalk and cheese, Duncan's approach is somewhat calmer and than his brother Jon's! That said, he is no less passionate about cricket and E&WHCC. Duncan has been integral to the success of the club over 35 years having played for 1st XI and 2nd XI and coached the U11s for 9 years. He is now the Club's Umpire, Fixture Secretary and Welfare Officer and in 2020 Duncan, along with son Andrew, will lead the U15s coaching. He is a busy man!
Helen is and has been an ever present at the club for 30 years, watching games, supporting the teams both home and away, doing teas and looking after our club finances. She agreed to take over as treasurer over 20 years ago and said she would do it until the next AGM but is still doing it to this day.
Not an official official, but an absolutely key member of E&WHCC, full of character, charm and enthusiasm, Peter encourages the U11s to deliver their very best. He is often seen sporting several hats and pairs of glasses as well as holding an odd jumper or two as he umpires the U11 matches. As a stalwart of the 2nd X1 we see a different side to Pistol Pete! Competitive and driven he gives 100% of himself each game yet manages to continue to nurture and encourage the juniors who may be playing. When he has a spare moment (read many, many hours) Pete works with Ivan to maintain the beautiful ground.
